Unlike Nomiki's Plaka just up the road and The Plaka on Fort Myers Beach which are both owned by the same people, The Plaka II is not related to either of those at all. Unlike the other two restaurants sharing a similar name, The Plaka II is in a class of it's own..... Low class.
We ordered the usual Greek fare.... A souvlaki platter, a gyro platter, an order of spanikopita, and some katif. All average Greek restaurant staples.
I'll start off with the souvlaki. the meat was clearly overcooked and should never have left the kitchen. It was also highly under-seasoned, if seasoned at all. The gyro meat was not as dried out as the souvlaki meat, and had the usual gyro flavor. Nothing special going on with this entree.
The spanikopita was ok. although I still question if it was made fresh or if it was frozen. If I had to choose, I would have to go with the latter. Either way, I can say with most certainty that it wasn't made fresh the day that I had it.
The katif was good. Very syrupy and tasty. It was your average katif. Not bad, but not memorable either. The only memorable part of our visit was the host who was very welcoming. Unfortunately, the good impressions stopped there.
Our only advice is that when someone tells you to eat at Plaka because the food is great.... Just make sure you go to the correct Plaka because not all Plaka's are created equal.
